WORKING

Ramon at the seaside

The versatility of the SWD is truly amazing, they are at home both on land and in the water.

In the field they have the ability to hunt, point and retrieve and can be trained to the gun, they have a tremendous learning ability, this combined with endless stamina and desire to please makes learning a pleasure for them

Retrieving out of the water is something that they excel at and any game that falls into the water after or during the shoot, they will on command retrieve. Sunken objects will also be brought to land, the SWD dives easily using his webbed feet to full effect, they have been known to dive to depths of 1 - 6 metres.

Agility & Obedience:

The SWD enjoys the challenge of both these activities. Training for these is not difficult, as the dogs enjoy the exercise and stimulus it provides. The only problem with agility is keeping pace with your dog.

Search & Rescue:

Although not many are used for this purpose in the UK as yet, in Europe they are used for assisting searches for survivors in earthquakes and other disaster areas.
